Everyone, regardless of age, should have a Tetanus protection consisting of an initial series of 3 shots, 4 weeks apart and a booster every ten years. In those who Tetanus Toxoid is not current or have never been immunized, a special form of Tetanus prevention may be necessary in addition to the Tetanus shot when injury occurs.
