Pinworms

The family is not unclean if pinworms are discovered. Children getting worm eggs under the nails and putting their fingers in their mouths result in the infestation. The eggs hatch in the intestines and cause itching when they come outside the anus. Use a flashlight at night which will reveal a small, white, thin-coiled worm about ¾” long if extended. This is never a serious problems and is mostly a nuisance that can easily be treated within several days. Place a piece of scotch tape over the child’s rectum at night and bring to office. Stool specimen is required for other worms.
